2019 was the year I not only turned 50 but I had three half marathons booked up hoping I would this year get my goal of a sub 2 hour time.
But as the saying goes man plans and god laughs. I didn’t start off too good I picked up a groin injury towards the end of the year before and didn’t take enough time off so was slow to recover then I picked up another groin injury on the opposite side so I made sure I took enough time off so Barcelona in April had to be cancelled and to do Almansa in May I had to do it using the run/walk method known as jeffing.

Around this time I was finding that I was struggling with running I thought my fitness levels had really dropped off due to the injury. I was also finding I was burping alot and I had lower backache which I just couldn’t shift. I thought it was my adhesion pain getting worse and went to the Dr’s to just get something stronger pain wise.

The Dr however had other ideas and I had to have some tests which showed my amalyse enzyme was slightly elevated and was told my pancreas was inflamed and had to have more tests.

More tests followed and again I was told my pancreas was inflamed and I would need to watch my fat intake and not drink alcohol. I queried if this was due to my adhesions and was told more than likely.
Weirdly even though I knew this was probably coming it was still a shock. I didn’t even think to ask questions.
In September I went back to get some answers and saw the Dr who started this. She was surprised the Dr hadn’t gone through my results so she printed off the last two and went through them. She was surprised I was still experiencing discomfort so she wanted me to do more tests including thyroid ad this was high but not high enough for them to treat it and she wanted me to have a scan.

I did all the tests in October and got the results that my thyroid was reduced considerably (still slightly higher than the limit) but my amalyse enzyme was higher again. The Dr asked if I had an appointment for my scan which I didn’t have and he chased this for me.
